About Toowoomba North

Queens Park Botanical Gardens in Toowoomba North
Largely a residential electorate, Toowoomba North is comprised of the suburbs of Toowoomba North, East Toowoomba, Mt Lofty, Harlaxton, Prince Henry Heights, Mt Kynoch, Blue Mountain heights, Highfields, Wilsonton, Rockville, Newtown, parts of Rangeville and the Toowoomba Central Business District.

One of the most rapidly growing residential areas in Queensland, Highfields is a short drive north of Toowoomba and falls in the Toowoomba North electorate.

In the recent Queensland Electoral Commission redistribution, the electorate has expanded southwards to James Street. Other boundaries affected by the redistribution include a minor change in the area north of Highfields and a small growth in the area east of Highfields.

Notable landmarks within the electorate are the Empire Theatre, Toowoomba City Hall, Highfields Pioneer Historical Village, Cobb & Co Museum, the Queens Park Gardens, Laurel Bank Park, Clive Berghofer Stadium (Athletic Oval) and the historic Russell Street.

Toowoomba North electorate also encompasses the Southern Queensland Institute of TAFE.
